The website is the access point to the set of research results developed among the research centers affiliated to i2basque which are users of the service.
This tool offers three main functionalities:
- 1. Visibility of the scientific production
- 2. Institutional repository of scientific publication
- 3. Institutional repository of publication related data
The tool is linked to the Ikerbasque Foundation´s website for the research, science.eus, specifically, from the Research Output option of the main menu.
FOR RESEARCHERS:
The researchers have a personal page where there is shown the most important data of their research career path:
- – Publications, organized chronologically and by document type.
- – Supervised doctoral theses, and the juries where they have taken part.
- – Projects where they have collaborated.
- – A section dedicated to the collaboration with other researchers.
- – Metrics, this section shows a summary of JCR and SJR articles, gathered by quartile, as well as the total of achieved Scopus quotes.
- – Academic activity, here the end of studies works are gathered.
Apart from the bibliographical information, there is available additional information as the author´s web pages in other databases, authorship identifier (ResearchID, ORCID), and when it´s possible, links to the full texts.
The researchers can update their profiles on the website, adding those publications that there aren´t yet, or the full texts of their publications, that are going to be deposited in a normalized repository (it fulfils OAI-PMH protocols), and linked to existing repository nets (OpenAIRE, OpenDOAR, etc.) that the tool itself offers.
The full texts uploaded by the researchers are going to be reviewed by the person responsible for it in the center, and in the case that there isn´t this figure in the center, directly by i2basque (open.science@i2basque.eus).If the necessary intellectual property rights are available, they will be published in open access, otherwise, the corresponding embargo period will be applied, remaining in open access when mentioned periods expire. However, the researcher, for his part, before uploading his document, can consult the journal´s policies in which he has published the article, to check if he can publish openly his text, or the time he has to wait to be able to do so, and decide ifhe is going to publish a pre-print version until the embargo period is finished.
As an illustrative way for the researcher, we want to mention that there is a journal classification, according to their position on Open Access, that can be consulted here.
Researchers´ access to their profile on the platform:
The researchers can enter to edit them profile identifying themselfs on the portal, for that, they have to press the «SING IN» button, that is located in the upper righthand corner of the screen.
Following, the RedIRIS SIR service´s screen will open to identify themselves. The researchers must select the center they belongs to, and use their name and username.
Once inside, in the upper righthand corner of the screen, the researchers have to click on their photograph (or icon, in the case that no photograph have been added), and a menu will be displayed from which they can access to their publications, editing their profile (from where they can modify their personal data, add/remove publications and data), or the screen from which they can generate reports on their scientific production, allowing them to generate a standardized CV.
Following, the researchers will find tutorials that will guide them on how to perform the most important/basic operations from their user profiles:
1 -> How to add a publication that is not on the Research Portal
2 -> How to deposit the full text of a publication on the Research Portal
3 -> How to export and create reports of the scientific production
